Winners of the Deck the Wards Christmas decoration competition 2023: Maternity Unit, Rockhampton Hospital

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service staff love sprinkling a healthy dose of sparkle around the wards at this time of year to celebrate the festive season.

Our Deck the Wards Christmas decoration competition is hotly contested, with entries flooding in from all corners of the region.

This year was no different, and our patients, visitors and staff have commented on the festive cheer.

It was a tough task for our judges, Board Chair Paul Bell, Chief Executive Dr Emma McCahon, and Mark Menzel Regional Manager from sponsor QSuper.

This week they presented the winners with their prizes.

  • 1st place: Maternity Unit, Rockhampton Hospital (above)
  • 2nd place: Medical Records, Gladstone Hospital

Highly commended certificates were awarded to North Rockhampton Nursing Centre and Rockhampton Paediatric Unit.

Well done to all the teams who have gone above and beyond to decorate their units to create a warm and welcoming space for our patients, and for all their hard work in 2023.
