A new crisis support space has opened at Rockhampton Hospital, transforming access to mental health care.
The Harmony Hub provides a safe, welcoming place for adults experiencing emotional distress.
Central Queensland Health Chief Executive Lisa Blackler said the service provides a homely alternative to the Emergency Department.
“The Rockhampton Harmony Hub offers a quieter, more relaxed environment where adults can access practical support, connection and guidance,” she said.
“This space is another step in strengthening our mental health services and improving access to care when people need it most.
“It’s important that people experiencing emotional distress can feel heard and supported in a safe, therapeutic environment.”
Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service General Manager Kelley Yates said the service offers adults an alternate option to traditional pathways for care.
“Visitors to the Rockhampton Harmony Hub can speak with trained peer workers and mental health clinicians in an environment focused on connection,” she said.
“The space has been thoughtfully furnished with people who have a lived experience, ensuring it meets the needs of those it is intended to support.”
The service is free and available to people aged 18 years and over, 7 days a week, with no appointment or referral needed.
Before visiting, consumers should call 0477 788 534 to speak with a clinician, who can help determine if the service is right for them.
The Rockhampton Harmony Hub is located in the reception area of the Mental Health Acute Care Team building on Quarry Street, Rockhampton.
Opening hours:
