Summary
Rockhampton Hospital warmly welcomes a new Clinical Director of Anaesthetics, Dr Adrian Sultana.
Dr Sultana joins Central Queensland Health after many years of private practice in Sydney.
Originally from Malta, Dr Sultana moved to Australia, gaining his Fellowship with the Australia New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 1993.
He worked as a staff anaesthetist at the Alfred in Melbourne, and Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney before moving into private practice.
Dr Sultana is keen to pursue academic prospects at University of Queensland Rural Clinical School.
He has a long history of teaching and is excited to work closely training our doctors of the future. He taught in the under-graduate program at University of NSW from 1995-2019 and has given many lectures on his preferred topics of acute pain, and high BMI patients, including across Australia, and in the UK and USA.
His absolute priority is recruitment, aiming to attract some good candidates to join the team in Rockhampton, and ultimately to provide the best possible service to Central Queenslanders.
“Once we’ve got more senior staff on board we can start building training numbers,” he said.
He says his first impressions of Rockhampton Hospital are positive.
“The theatre is very well equipped, and the staff are excellent and kind-hearted.”
