Our Central Queensland Joint Regional Needs Assessment (JRNA) helps us plan services that meet the needs of Central Queensland communities. We developed it in partnership with Country to Coast Queensland.

The JRNA identified needs based on:

  • analysis of health data, trends and service use
  • insights from community surveys and consultations
  • input from clinicians, health staff and partner organisations
  • review of existing plans and health system priorities.

These needs were prioritised based on what matters most for health outcomes in Central Queensland.

Our priorities

The priority health needs for Central Queensland include:

  • social and community factors that affect health
  • health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • reducing health risks that can be changed, like smoking, obesity and use of alcohol and other drugs
  • preventing and managing long term conditions, including diabetes and lung disease
  • mental health
  • supporting people as they age
  • early support for vulnerable families
  • health and development needs of babies and children
  • support for people living with disability.

These priorities will guide strategic planning, service design and resource decisions across the region.
