Salary and benefits
We offer competitive salaries and a range of other benefits, including salary packaging.
Your salary will depend on the type of role you do, your level of experience and where you work. Find the salary rate for your role on the Queensland Health Careers website.
You may also get allowances for things like shift work or for completing higher education qualifications.
Superannuation
We contribute up to 12.75% of your salary into superannuation.
The superannuation fund used by Queensland Government departments is QSuper but you can choose a different one.

Salary packaging
Salary packaging or sacrificing is a way of paying for things from your salary before you're taxed. This reduces how much income tax you pay.
You can salary sacrifice things like:
- rent or mortgage repayments
- insurances
- car expenses
- travel expenses.
You may also be eligible for a novated lease.

Leave entitlements
We offer generous leave entitlements, including:
- extra annual leave for working public holidays
- sick leave, or carers leave for family members (such as sick children)
- long service leave
- paid parental leave including maternity, spousal, adoption and surrogacy leave
- domestic and family violence leave
- reproductive health leave.

Flexible learning options
We offer clinical and non-clinical training through our online learning platform, Learning Online (LOL). Courses are available face to face, online or at your own pace.
Staff can log in to Learning Online from any device with internet access.
Leadership development
We help you build leadership skills and take the next step into supervisor or manager roles through our leadership development framework.
We also offer a tailored leadership pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
Rural and remote training
Our rural hospitals and multipurpose facilities give you the chance to gain unique clinical experience and build your skills.

Fitness passport
To support a healthy work-life balance and the wellbeing of our staff, we offer access to the Fitness Passport.
Fitness Passport is a corporate health and fitness program. It gives you and your family access to a choice of fitness facilities close to your home and work.

Employee assistance program
Our employee assistance program is a free and confidential service that supports your wellbeing.
Our staff and their immediate family members can use this service. You can have 6 sessions each year, either face-to-face, online or by phone.
The program offers counselling, coaching and online resources. You can get help with mental health and serious or traumatic events. It also includes support tailored for LGBTQIA+, First Nations and neurodivergent employees.
Other services include financial coaching, family counselling, manager support, nutrition advice, help with workplace conflict, career coaching, legal support and disability counselling.
