Biloela Hospital is set to welcome six brand-new staff accommodation units, with contractors now appointed to oversee the project.
Saltair Modular has been appointed to oversee the supply and installation of 3 one-bedroom units, while the second stage will see the installation of 3 additional 3-bedroom units and is expected to be delivered in the last quarter of 2025. Forge Solutions has been appointed for the site works.
These units will have modern, comfortable design including an undercover car park, ramp accessibility, internet access, outdoor clothesline, shared living space, a kitchenette and laundry. The 3-bedroom units will also offer ensuite bathrooms for added privacy.
To prepare for the new buildings, the existing old accommodation block will be decommissioned and demolished, clearing the way for future hospital redevelopment projects.
The new accommodation units are one of several projects happening at Biloela Hospital.
The accelerated construction works to the existing operating theatre and refurbishment of the birthing suite have been completed.
These minor works are a big step towards the resumption of birthing services, while Queensland Health progresses a much larger redevelopment plan for the hospital.
Central Queensland Health Chief Executive Lisa Blackler is excited that this important project has moved another step closer.
“Providing fresh new accommodation in Biloela will support our efforts to recruit skilled staff to the region,” she said.
“It will help us overcome the barrier of rental shortage and give access to accommodation and comfortable facilities for staff right on-site with easy access, especially for clinicians on-call.”
Ms Blackler said this project would also provide groundwork for extra staff accommodation in future should it be required.
