For people approaching the end of life, where they spend their final days matters just as much as the care they receive.
A renewed partnership between Central Queensland Health and Fitzroy Community Hospice will help ensure local residents continue to have access to compassionate, community-based palliative care close to home.
Fitzroy Community Hospice Chief Executive Officer Tanya Johnson said she was incredibly grateful for the renewal of the 3-year funding agreement with Central Queensland Health.
“As a not-for-profit charitable organisation, the Hospice relies heavily on funding and donations, so the renewal of our funding agreement with Central Queensland Health is crucial and ultimately contributes to the continued sustainable provision of fee-free palliative care and bereavement support services for our community,” Mrs Johnson said.
“Our partnership with Central Queensland Health is highly valued, and we are grateful for their ongoing support. The difference this makes to our community when it is needed most is invaluable,” she said.
Central Queensland Health Chief Executive Lisa Blackler said every person deserves to receive compassionate, dignified care at the end of life.
“Renewing this partnership reflects our commitment to ensuring Central Queenslanders have access to high-quality palliative care services within their own community,” she said.
“Fitzroy Community Hospice plays a vital role in supporting patients and families through one of life's most challenging times, and we're pleased to continue working together."
Fitzroy Community Hospice is the only hospice north of Hervey Bay and an essential option for Central Queenslanders and their families requiring end-of-life care and bereavement support.
